The Adventures of Caitlin aka The Great Laptop Quest

Wednesday evening before our Wilshe Thanksgiving, I sat down to burn pictures of baby Sadie to take to Becky. As I was about to sit, I knocked a whole glass of ice water onto/into our LAPTOP!!!!! I completely fried it.

I drove to Best Buy, they couldn't get any documents off it.

I drove to Circuit City, our protection plan expired in 2 days but did not cover accidental!

Luckily, my husband did not kill me and we got ourselves together and made it to dinner on time.

Last night after Thanksgiving @ Momb's and stopping over at Lori and Frank's, I bundled up and drove to Circuit City just before 10. I joined a group of over 50 people camping out for the $299 laptop blowout deal. Jen joined me a bit after 11, and we braved the cold and psychotic crowd.

@ 4am employees came around with vouchers for the special sale items. 5 to be exact. There were limited quantities of everything....and guess who got the last laptop voucher????


THE GIRL IN FRONT OF ME!!!!!

I almost cried but I resolved to get a game plan together. By the way, that girl got the last $500 laptop. The $300 and $400 were long gone before they got to us.

Jen and I made a beeline at 5am into the store. I found a Compaq for $600....more than we wanted to spend, but a good computer nonetheless. I found Brandon (the lovely soul who helped me Weds night when I was practically doubled over the counter with my sopping wet Toshiba). He put the last one on hold for me and I got in THE LAPTOP LINE. By 8am I was ALMOST to the front. People were starting to get nasty and I sang a rendition of Deck the Halls and reminded them that we got this close, let's not get crazy and get kicked out. Luckily my delirious, smiling demeanor was enough to cool their jets.

As I'm getting closer a boy a bit younger approached me and said he overheard that I was looking to get a voucher laptop and he had one that he was not going to use...and would I like it!? Of course I said yes, and I restrained myself from hugging him! :)

I finally got home around 9am, way poorer than I was last night, computer and accessories in hand. JP worked with jerky comcast all afternoon to get our internet up and running (who knows what their problem ever is!)...and now, here we are!

No more beverages allowed near the computer, but in case you really must......we are fully covered with ACCIDENTAL! Smart move, eh?


I'm starting to feel wacky again so I'm going to try to take another nap.
